Material & characteristics

Copper concentrate is mineral feedstock upgraded from ore for further processing by a smelter or refinery. Its copper content, mineral composition and moisture differ from refined copper cathode.

Grade & buyer requirements

The listed copper content is 35–46% Cu, subject to confirmation by the agreed current-lot assay. Ask for copper on an agreed dry basis, moisture, sulfur, iron and relevant penalty elements such as arsenic, lead and zinc. Confirm the mineral type and sampling method with the receiving smelter. A concentrate grade is not cathode purity.

Applications

Feedstock for copper smelting and refining. The receiving plant determines suitability from the assay, mineralogy and its operating requirements.

Discuss lined bulk bags or another suitable concentrate shipment format. Bag weights, moisture condition, cargo classification and loading arrangements require agreement before dispatch.
